Your mission as Food and Drink Intern

As Food and Drink Intern for the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, you are an experience maker. You will be responsible for creating guest delight with spotless service in accordance with the Waldorf Astoria True Service Standards. You will provide guests with a memorable experience that is personalized to their needs, thanks to your hospitality flair. You are a true support to the team and the go-to expert regarding the hotel benefits, facilities and experiences we offer. What will I be doing ?

You will be entrusted for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

• Able to work in all areas of Food and Drink including Bar, Restaurant, Room Service and Conference and Events
• Welcome guests in a polite and friendly manner
• Ensure a consistent and convincing standard of service and maintain all the service standards and the Waldorf Astoria policies.
• Active contribution to service.
• Guarantee a cost conscious manner of working.
• Participate in internal meetings and training courses.
• Care of guests from arrival to leaving the outlet in accordance with the standards.
• Conscientious and correct execution of the Team leaders instructions.
• Active promotion of in-house sales by optimal knowledge of all the services of the hotel including opening hours and promotions of all F&D outlets.
• Take over from the previous shift and obtain all relevant information at the start of the shift as regards volume of business, VIP guests, tasks to be clarified and completed and special events.
• Know how to use the Micros cash system. Correct booking and cashing up if necessary for all services provided.
• Know how to operate all the technical equipment which needs to be used.
• Full knowledge of regular menu, promotional menus, wine lists and any other promotion(s) in place.
• Communicate to the different Team Members in a clear, polite and efficient way. Informing Team Members about different promotions, due to Outlook or the notice board.

What are we looking for?

A Food and Drink Intern serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

• Student currently studying a MBO or HBO education, preferably Hotelschool (internship must be part of current education)
• Traineeship: a minimum period of 6 months.
• Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Any additional language(s) is (are) beneficial.
• Demonstrates complete working knowledge of the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam Service Delivery Standards.
• Gains and maintains a broad cultural awareness.
• Maintain good communication and working relationships with all hotel departments.

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

• Previous Food and Drink and/or industry experience
• Experience with cash handling
• Knowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations
