We are looking for a research technician who wants to support us with a project focused on the disease Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In particular, we are looking for a research technician to support us with cell cultures such as induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), neuronal differentiations and brain organoids.

You will isolate Extracellular vesicle and use techniques such as western blotting, qPCR and imaging for characterization. In addition you will support PhD’s and postdoc’s in characterizing these lines and their Extracellular vesicles and conduct experiments to understand the molecular mechanism in ALS.

As a research technician, you will work with techniques such as human iPSCs differentiation towards neurons, organoids, extracellular vesicle isolation and cell imaging.

The iPSC Mind Facility at the UMC Utrecht Brain Center provides researchers with the opportunity to develop and execute the core skills and competences required to successfully reprogram patient cells into pluripotent, well-characterized iPSC lines. While conducting the necessary biological techniques themselves, guest researchers will be guided through the process and supplied with the required knowledge and basic materials. In addition to the reprogramming platform, the possibility to differentiate iPSC cell lines into neural lineages is also being offered in the facility.

The iPSC Mind Facility is located in the Stratenum building of the UMC Utrecht within the Department of Neuroscience. It is part of the Department of Translational Neuroscience (Pasterkamp group. Dit neem je mee

• Bachelor’s (HLO) or Master’s degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, biotechnology, or equivalent field.
• At least one year of relevant experience.
• A laboratory enthusiast with experience in cell culture
• Proficient in English.
• Experience with iPSC and organoid culture is a plus.
• Personality: pro-active, independent, curiosity driven and eager to learn.

• A salary between €2975,- and €4214,- gross per month (salary scale 7M), based on full-time employment (36 hours).
• Year-end bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8%.
