Do you, as a student at Tilburg University, want to make videos for the university’s social media channels? Then you might be the perfect fit for one of the student editor positions in the Communication department. In this role, you will develop, produce, and present videos for our campus community. You will tell the stories of students and experiment with all the possibilities social media has to offer. We would love to hear from you if you are a creative, enthusiastic student who is not camera-shy. You can apply for this position by submitting a video in which you show us what you can do and what your ideas are for our channels.
Your job As a student editor, you will collaborate with other student editors and support the Newsroom, the Communication department team that manages Tilburg University’s corporate social media channels.
The student editor’s main responsibility is to create content for Tilburg University’s student channels - Instagram, Facebook, and the Student Portal - and possibly for YouTube. This involves all tasks related to producing ready-to-publish posts.
Your duties include:

• Coming up with new ideas for both current and long-term social media content;
• Pitching ideas in editorial meetings;
• Meeting communication staff to discuss strategy and planning;
• Reaching out, making appointments, and doing interviews;
• Presenting videos for social media;
• Optional: filming and editing videos.

As a student editor, you will also be commissioned to work in the Newsroom to perform tasks such as web care support and laying out press releases and social media content. Additionally, the student editors serve as the Communication department’s feedback group.
Your qualifications We are looking for several student editors and we prefer a mix of Bachelor’s and Master’s students, both national and international, from several Schools. Since we produce both English and Dutch videos, you preferably speak both languages fluently. Given the training time, you are available for a full academic year.
Your talents In line with the Newsroom’s current content strategy, the position of student editor comes with the freedom to experiment. This freedom also comes with the crucial responsibility to honor commitments and to meet deadlines. Knowledge of and experience with social media is a must, as are excellent writing skills. Student editors are outgoing and enterprising, and are considering a career in journalism.
Our offer The positions on offer are each for approximately 3 or 4 hours a week.
The salary is at least €22,11 and at most €22,95 gross per hour, based on the UFO (job classification system) profile for student assistants of the Dutch Universities Collective Labor Agreement. The salary grade will depend on the number of ECTS credits obtained.
The editorial positions on offer are for student assistants who support non-structural and operational work within the meaning of Section 2.3(6)(f) of the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities. Eligible candidates are registered with Tilburg University as a student and have obtained at least 60 ECTS credits. Selected candidates will be offered a fixed-term employment contract for 12 months.
