European Supply Planner - Contract Manufacturing

In this position as European 3PA Supply Chain Planner you will be responsible for planning and purchasing for all finished goods with our 3rd party and contract manufacturers. This could be a wide range of products, all within the chemical area that you will be planning and purchasing for. Some products are easier to get than others, and we also have to take safety regulations into account regarding the storage and quantity of the products that we may have stored on our sites. In other words: you will deal with products with short and very long lead times, which increases the complexity of the planning that you are responsible for. In the end, you are responsible for ensuring that - even in this world of extreme shortages - there are always sufficient products in stock. To do this, you will receive input from the Purchasing team that keeps our SAP system up to date, and then it is up to you to make sure you can plan accordingly taking all variables such as shortages, lead times, demand, possible bottlenecks and more into account. As our (experienced) third party supply chain planner for equipment, you in the end are responsible for ensuring a product is available in our distribution warehouses. That way, we can keep meeting our customer requirements - something that we were able to do most of the time, even in the current challenging world. However, things are getting tougher, and that’s exactly where we need you to build those long-lasting and strong relationships with our suppliers and know exactly when to order which products. You will hold a vital role in which you collaborate, communicate, and corroborate with many different people. Internally you will be working with sales, fellow planners, customer service, and procurement and externally, you will have frequent contacts with suppliers all over the world. You ensure the consolidation, call off, timely planning and follow up on purchase order. On a daily basis you will check the stock, and take actions when items are out of stock or below the safety stock. You’re the key point of contact for our suppliers and will regularly visit or meet them, and also be the one providing forecasts on requests. You validate whether there is capacity at 3rd party contract manufacturers, arrange redistribution if necessary and set priorities in case of shortages or quality issues. And in addition to this, we expect you to help us make our organization even better. You’d like to come up with optimization ideas and proposals that result in for example a reduction of the total costs, inventory, routing, or general planning. • You hold a bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or a related field.
• You have excellent knowledge of the planning modules in SAP and Excel.
• You have (more or less) 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
• You’re fluent in English, and preferably also another European language such as Italian, German, Spanish, French or Dutch.
• You’re eligible to work in The Netherlands and are willing to join the team 2-3 days per week in the Utrecht office. At this moment, we are working about 1 or 2 days per week from the office.
