We are looking for an: Events and Projects Assistant
38 hours per week (1 FTE) What will you be doing?
As the Events and Projects Assistant, you will engage yourself in two dynamic projects. Firstly, you’ll integrate into the small core team of a newly formed project (TDCC-SSH) dedicated to enhancing research practices within the Dutch academic sector. Your key role will be to strengthen communications, to nurture the network, and to organise engaging events. Secondly, you will provide practical, administrative and organisational support to the project leader of a European project. Working closely with the team, you will constantly look for opportunities to improve workflow and optimise processes. Together, these tasks form a full-time position, in which you will devote three days to the TDCC-SSH project and two days to the European project, with the possibility of remaining involved in similar projects after the European project ends. Your responsibilities span organising events, day-to-day project administration, creating online content and implementing the communication strategy. Furthermore, you will work closely with our Communications team to draft project reports analysing both qualitative and quantitative data to showcase the success and impact of our initiatives.
What will you bring to the table? You are motivated, results-oriented and collaborative, with a hands-on approach and meticulous administrative skills. Additionally, you have practical experience in event planning, complemented by an Applied Sciences Masters degree (HBO), preferably in Social Sciences or Humanities, Marketing or Communication Studies, or equivalent professional work experience. You have:
  • A minimum of two years experience in similar roles with excellent English writing and editorial skills, in addition to proficiency in online communications, including social media and newsletters.
  • Demonstrated skill in collecting, analysing and delivering data (e.g. contacts, web statistics, marketing results, customer relationship data) with sensitivity and urgency.
Fluency in Dutch, familiarity with online platforms such as WordPress, MailChimp and Slack, and experience working on projects in a national and/or international environment are not mandatory, but are an advantage. In addition, it is a plus if you have an interest in research data and infrastructures, combined with knowledge of the field of Social Sciences and/or Humanities.

Terms of employment
Depending on education and experience the minimum salary is €3377,- and the maximum salary is €4640,- gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale 9 cao Nederlandse Universiteiten/KNAW). This is exclusive of 8% vacation allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, travel allowance, internet allowance, home working allowance and pension accrual with ABP. The KNAW offers its staff an excellent package of secondary benefits. A package that meets the different needs of employees depending on their stage of life, lifestyle or career ambitions. For example, by working an extra two hours a week, it is possible to increase the number of days off from 29 to 41 days a year (with full-time employment).
