At PPHE, being an Assistant Regional Chief Engineer is more than just doing maintenance and audits, it is also about creating a memorable guest experience for our guests through our beautifully maintained hotels. Main Role: The Assistant Regional Chief Engineer is responsible for supporting Regional Chief Engineer in monitoring the facilities of all hotels in the Dutch region and ensuring all are in optimum operating condition. Together with the maintenance teams in the properties he/she is managing preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel power plant machinery, assuring a safe, secure and comfortable environment for customers, colleagues and contractors.
Tasks and Responsibilities: Primary duties
- Provides support to Regional Chief Engineer with projects related to Capex and maintenance for the Park Plaza and art’otel hotels in the Netherlands.
- Maintains facilities and equipment by conducting hotel inspections on a regular basis to determine need and extent of service, equipment required, type of operation, and maintenance needed.
- Ensures adherence to applicable laws by meeting with government and insurance inspectors, and performing follow-up as required.
- Ensures that the physical plant is operating in a safe, efficient, and orderly fashion by directing all phases of maintenance, repair and renovation.
- Enhance processes, strategies and implement changes to improve the maintenance standards in all hotels without impacting existing operations as much as possible.
- Continuously seeks to endeavour and improve the department’s efficient operation, and knowledge of own job function.
- Is proactive in managing projects and ensuring timely delivery of technical support.
- Recommends, establishes, and maintains inventory level thresholds based on budget and availability of supplies.
- Support Regional Chief Engineer with budgeting, forecasting and recommendations.
- Have extensive knowledge of the hotels and the company’s security and health & safety procedures.
- Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported and removed immediately.
- To have full knowledge of your departmental Risk Assessments, ensuring that all employees are fully aware of them and that they have read and signed them to state that they understand the risks.
- Develops skills and abilities of maintenance management and team members.
- Provides leadership to the maintenance team in the hotels and supporting ongoing initiatives. Works closely with Regional Chief Engineer, Chief Engineers and maintenance teams to ensure cohesion and best practice across the region.
